| Australia's Helping Hand |
Australia's Helping
Hand (AU) is a Canberra based charity setup to
start Internet and Technology Schools in Vietnam
to train the older orphans in the trade and then
find them work once they graduate.
Once an orphan turns 16 he or she must leave to
make way for the younger ones to enter.
When they leave they leave without any skills
so most if not all finish on the streets for survival.
Once there the risk of becoming a victim of sexual
exploitation is just one of the dangers facing
young people in Vietnam. Many children leave their
families and villages to seek jobs in urban areas
-- and thousands end up on the street. Once there,
they risk falling foul of drug abuse, which puts
them at risk of HIV/ AIDS, or of coming into conflict
with the law.
