You can use this web site to publish your stories, opinions, photos, MP3s etc.

Belconnen's history

Belconnen turned 40 on 23 June 2006. In 1966 the first sod was turned in Aranda. To celebrate the Belconnen Website now has a special page on Belconnen history. The page now includes Brian Rhynehart's chronological history of Belconnen.

Are you craving a great cup of coffee and a sweet treat? Or perhaps you fancy a fresh home-style lunch? Look no further than Gonzo's Cafe in Belconnen Community Centre. We have freshly brewed organic fair-trade coffee and service with a smile.

Open 9.00am - 3.00pm Monday to Friday. Catering is available within the Belconnen Community Centre and it's immediate vicinity.

Exciting courses on offer at Hawker evening college for term 3


Hawker Evening College will be offering most of its established favourites
in term 3 along with some exciting new courses. These include:
Cooking for Blokes, an eight week course designed to give blokes a range
of skills in different cooking skills. While the course has been run at
southside colleges this is the first time it has been offered in
Belconnen;
Welding for begginers, Introductory welding course for those seeking to
obtain basic welding skills in MIG, TIG or Arc welding :
A citizen’s guide to politics and government, a course designed to give
its students a better understanding of politics, government, the
constitution and political issues, it would be useful for those who will
be voting for the first time at the next election and those seeking
Australian citizenship;
Foundations of drawing and experimental printmaking, The aim of this
course is to open new directions in student’s own art practice; and
Upholstery, designed to teach upholstery so that students can make
something for themselves.
As well as these new courses popular courses in Yoga, fitness, computing
and arts will again be offered.

TravelSmart final update

The TravelSmart - Belconnen project is a large-scale Voluntary Travel Behaviour Change Project intended to encourage the use of healthier, more sustainable transport modes. It was conducted in Belconnen over 2006 and 2007. It is now complete. read the final report....
